World Usability Day 2006 Highlights

The 2nd annual World Usability Day has come to a close.

Like last year, there were many great events across the globe, but this year garnered considerably more press, especially here in the USA, from the introduction of New Jersey Usability Day, to coverage on NPR.  Looks like this tradition is taking hold and is very welcome.

World Usability Day 2006 is Coming!

Greetings,

It's that time again.  World Usability Day 2006 is coming, Tuesday, November 14th.  The theme:  "Making Life Easy".   See http://www.worldusabilityday.org for all the details.

Chicago's events have been announced!  From the planning committee:

--

We are pleased to announce that the Chicago event's 2006 opening keynote speaker will be Don Norman, co founder of Nielsen Norman group and professor, Northwestern University.  In addition, we are extremely excited to have Patrick Whitney, Director of the Institute of Design, IIT, be the event's closing speaker.

Last year, World Usability Day was celebrated by over 8000 participants at 115 events in 70 cities in 35 countries. More specifically, in Chicago , our "It Makes $ense" event served as a focusing lens for building momentum within the local User Experience community.

This year will be an opportunity to share various aspects of design and usability with leaders from a variety of academic and corporate environments.  They will provide presentations focusing on the usability of communication, work, transportation, home life, relationships, finance, health, and the world around you.

3/7/06 MilwauCHI Meeting

The 2nd of MilwauCHI's "First Tuesdays" is tonight!

Roots Cellar:
5:30-7:00pm

MilwauCHI President, Rob Nero's description:

Plan:
There really is no plan for the meeting, but it will not be without a roadmap. We are hoping these 1st Tuesday gatherings will be a way to stay connected with other people doing the same kinds of things as you! You are welcome to present something that you have been working on… Ask questions to the group… Get feedback on your project or designs… Or just have something to drink and talk about the horrible upset at the Admirals game last night!

I am also looking for feedback on locations to have the 1st Tuesday meetings. I'd like to switch up the locations to different places all over the metro Milwaukee area. Send me your ideas!

Hope to see everyone there! :)
